Livewire Digital ships first batch of latest M-Link H.264 AVC receivers
Livewire Digital, the leading provider of integrated data, voice and video services, has shipped the first batch of 12 new H.264 AVC receivers. The new systems are capable of supporting both Live and ‘Store and Forward’ functionality and full backward compatibility.
Following the launch of M-Link H.264 AVC, many existing clients have received an upgrade to their systems to support the latest generation of M-Link H.264 AVC codecs as part of Livewire’s comprehensive support package.
With the M-Link range of products, Livewire Digital has harnessed the power of the latest H.264 AVC codecs to offer the best performance on the market for both Live and Store & Forward video to help capture life at the extreme. Based on Livewire Digital’s existing M-Link range of solutions, currently used by most of the world’s leading broadcasters, M-Link Voyager H.264 and M-Link IP-Reporter H.264 provide broadcast quality video for comprehensive news gathering via mobile, satellite and IP networks.
Tristan Wood, Managing Director, Livewire Digital, commented, “the complimentary rollout of M-Link Voyager and IP-Reporter mobile systems and software is now well underway and we’re confident that the code performance, feature set and comprehensive support we offer, makes M-Link H.264 AVC a clear winner by offering exceptional video quality and very good value for money. Orders for new systems closely followed the announcement of availability of the new M-Link product range.”
For broadcasters, H.264 AVC brings with it a major increase in video quality, faster compression and quicker delivery. As more broadcasters begin to develop High-Definition television (HDTV) services the M-Link solutions have the ability to support these services in order to meet this growing demand.
Livewire Digital’s Store and Forward solution, M-Link Voyager H.264 AVC facilitates the professional delivery of news and documentaries, wherever the journalist is deployed, by a single reporter in the field.
M-Link Voyager H.264 can be used with a range of satellite terminals via mobile or over the internet. When used in combination with Inmarsat’s BGAN terminals, the solution can fully utilise the 256 kbps streaming and 492 kbps background class operation.
Livewire Digital’s software based solution, M-Link IP-Reporter H.264, can be used on any notebook with Firewire support, enabling it to connect directly to a wide range of video equipment and import video using the programmes easy-to-use acquisition tools. M-Link IP-Reporter H.264 has been designed to operate over a variety of networks including BGAN, VSAT, xDSL, Wi-Fi, GPRS, 3G as well as other IP based networks, allowing reporters in the field to choose the most appropriate delivery method according to network availability.
